PARCELFORCE workers warned their new uniforms are too hot to work in the summer at the Communication Workers Union (CWU) annual conference today.
Delegates heard that bosses ignored feedback from admin and warehouse staff asking they keep the same uniforms.
They were made to the same red kit as Royal Mail colleagues but have been bringing in their own clothes.
Conference heard the material — said to have been developed from the “sporting world” — is actually “very uncomfortable” from May to September and not as breathable as cotton.
A motion calling for the union’s postal executive to enter talks to come up with another uniform for the summer was unanimously passed.
ParcelForce is owned by Royal Mail Group and another company, both in turn owned by IDS, which this month rejected a £3 billion takeover offer from a Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky for struggling Royal Mail.
It rejected the offer but it is thought Mr Kretinsky will make another.
