Pro-Palestine activists charged over Israeli drone factory protest

POLICE have charged two pro-Palestine activists after two cars were driven into bollards outside an Israeli drone factory in Leicester.

Officers were called to the scene of the protest at the Meridian Business Park at around 6.20am on Wednesday.

Today, a spokesman for Leicestershire Police said Adam Stroud, 32, of Birmingham and William Wyerere-Plastow, 33, of Manchester were both charged with aggravated trespass, locking on and criminal damage.

Stroud was also accused of driving without insurance and both men are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on April 26.

Campaign group Palestine Action said two cars were driven into bollards blocking the only entrance and forcing workers to return home from the Elbit factory, UAV Tactical Systems (U-TacS).

Its activists were said to have used D-locks to attach themselves to the steering wheels.

U-TacS is majority owned by Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest arms manufacturer, and partly owned by French arms company Thales.
