CANADA: Police are hunting two suspects after 15 were injured in a bomb blast at an Indian restaurant in Ontario.

Local police said two suspects “detonated an improvised explosive device within” the busy Bombay Bhel restaurant at about 10.30pm on Thursday, before fleeing the scene.

Police are looking for two men wearing dark coloured zip-up hoodies.

MALAYSIA: An Australian grandmother has been sentenced to death by hanging in Malaysia after her earlier acquittal on drug smuggling charges was overturned.

Appeal court judges in Kuala Lumpur found Maria Elvira Pinto Exposto guilty of smuggling 1.5kg of methamphetamine into the country.

Ms Exposto has a further right of appeal.

SYRIA: Kurdish forces in northern Syria have detained a French jihadist alleged to have played a role in terror attacks in Paris and Nice.

Adrian Lionel Kayali, known as Abu Osama, was captured in a Syrian Democratic Forces operation in Raqqa earlier this month.

He is accused of involvement in the Bataclan shootings in Paris and the attack in Nice when a truck ploughed into crowds celebrating Bastille Day killing 84 people.

UNITED STATES: A number of US news websites have been blocked in Europe after new data protection rules came into effect.

Under the new General Data Protection Regulation companies in the EU must get express consent to collect personal information.

The Chicago Times and LA Times were among those affected.
